NUTR 416: Emerging Issues in Nutrition and Dietetics
Prerequisites: NUTR 320, NUTR 317, NUTR 415

Students learn novel areas of research and discourse in nutrition and dietetics.
Detailed Description of Course Content
Because theories about nutrition and foods is evolving at a rapid pace, students will
                                       learn how to identify those areas in which research is being directed by federal interests
                                       and thus large grant incentives.  Students will also learn how to reconcile the rapid
                                       pace of research findings with news and social media outlets.  Students will learn
                                       how research findings are translated into National Academy of Sciences and law.
 
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Course instruction strategies may include, but will not be limited to lecture, discussion,
                                       class activities, problem based learning, case studies, videos, guest speakers, and
                                       student presentations.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
