V.    Course Description:    
This course develops the knowledge base needed to provide patient-centered care. Concepts
                                    of illness, disease management and pharmacology are integrated. The students apply
                                    the nursing process to clients with selected alterations in adaptive and regulatory
                                    mechanisms.
VI.    Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
                                 
                                 
                                    
                                    - Integrate current knowledge from nursing science, humanities, genetics and genomics,
                                       and social and natural sciences in developing the role of the nurse as provider of
                                       care throughout the lifespan. (PO 1,4)
 
                                    
                                    - Discuss selected health problems to include pathophysiology, growth and development,
                                       signs and symptoms, treatment, pharmacology, complications, and prognosis. (PO 1,2,4)
 
                                    
                                    - Identify the relationship of genetics and genomics to the care and treatment of adults.

                                    - Discuss the nursing role in providing safe and quality care for individuals with basic
