V. Course Description:
Students gain an overview of the health care system with the fundamentals of health
care occupations, beginning with today鈥檚 health care system, health care economics,
and law and ethics, providing important context for the personal and professional
skills that follow. Students will be exposed to an overview of careers in health
care and detailed profiles of the most in-demand professions.

VII. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the roles of various healthcare professionals and interview a healthcare
professional of choice.
- Outline the many parts of the healthcare system.
- Describe legal and ethical issues affecting the practice of healthcare professionals.
- Provide examples of professionalism.
- Describe the rights and responsibilities of healthcare professionals.
- Recognize the basic principles of safety, infection control, teamwork, and information
technology.
