ESHE 470:  Health and Exercise Science Practicum
Prerequisites: Permission of instructor
Credit Hours: (3)
Field experience in agency related to career goals. This course requires the completion
                                       of 120 hours of experience.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
This practicum provides students with an opportunity to develop an appreciation for
                                       the duties and responsibilities of a professional in the field. Students are required
                                       to document field activities and reflect on their relevance to professional association
                                       standards.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Students will participate in health and/or exercise science-related activities with
                                       an agency in the field for 120 hours during the academic year. A practitioner in the
                                       field will directly supervise these experiences. Students will communicate with classmates
                                       and the course instructor weekly to discuss experiences and responsibilities.
                                    
                                    
Goals and Objectives of the Course
                                    
                                    Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
                                    
                                    1) Explain the duties and responsibilities of professionals in the health and/or exercise
                                       science field.
2) Identify the various standards of professional associations and how they relate
                                       to practice.
3) Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors in health and exercise science
                                       settings.
4) Identify the experience and education needed for advancement in the field.
